Movies Osmosis Jones

Osmosis "Ozzy" Jones is the titular main protagonist of the film. He's a white blood cell and a rebel cop. He doesn't have much respect for authority. His best friend's Drix. He's funny and adventure-seeking. Osmosis Jones does anything to keep Frank in shape even if it means stopping Thrax.

Personality and Appearance[]

Ozzy is an adventurous white blood cell; who is an officer; who keeps his host, Frank DeTorre from deadly viruses. However, Ozzy does not follow rules and orders as he tends to do things his own way. Despite Ozzy's rebellious and reckless behavior, he is otherwise caring, friendly and forgiving. While Ozzy is a bit of narcissist and has an ego, he does not let them harden his heart, especially the teasing he gets from his fellow cops or anyone who belittles him.

Ozzy is very humorous, he showed a lot of humor towards lots of his friends; such as Drix, Leah and the Chief of Police. He even shows humor towards the villains; such as Thrax, Mayor Phlemming and different kinds of germs. When Ozzy was saving Frank from Thrax, Ozzy was brave, selfless and heroic. In the television series, he's the same but he's even more humorous.

Ozzy is fully committed and dedicated to keep Frank DeTorre healthy and his entire body safe. However, due to Frank's poor health affecting the law and politics within the City of Frank, Ozzy does not follow rules and orders as he tends to do things his own way, believing overconfident in catching germs by himself and keeping Frank healthy. Plus, there are also times where Ozzy tends to be clumsy as he doesn't have good aim with a gun and his clumsiness sometimes cause trouble. Yet, his rebellious and impulsive nature is always what gets him into trouble where his actions cause disruption in Frank's body, himself and others. Nevertheless, Ozzy is aware of the mistakes and is capable of learning from them as he strives to do better. Another factor of his impulsiveness is to make up for ruining Frank's reputation when he caused to vomit on Shane's teacher so Ozzy can make a positive difference for the lifestyles of Frank, his daughter, himself, and everyone else around him. He is goofy, adventurous, resourceful, rebellious, carefree, inept, and funny.

When he sees Leah, he gets all flirty and tries to impress her. Ozzy can be good-natured to his friends, and he always knows what's right. Ozzy's also very brave, confronting the deadly virus, Thrax, two times despite being outclassed by him.

Ozzy is a slender and handsome white blood cell with blue cytoplasm skin. He wears a white shirt with a grayish-brown jacket and with black pants and shoes. He has black eyebrows and goatee.

Osmosis Jones (film)[]

Osmosis Jones is first shown as part of the Mouth Patrol, when the viewer sees the inside of Frank for the first time. While he and his partner are chasing some bacteria, they were sucked into the lungs by a massive yawn. He tried to pursue the bacteria on foot, but he accidentally triggered a major muscle cramp in Frank's right leg. Then the Chief gave him a chance to redeem himself by assigning him with Drix to check out some inflammation in the Throat. When he's there, he discovered that it might not just be your everyday inflammation.

Then he gained more information from the Brain Memory Library and Chill, which leads him and Drix to a confrontation with Thrax at the Zit club. Osmosis Jones and Drix are then both fired by the mayor after they accidentally destroyed the zit with a medicine grenade. That night when Osmosis Jones decided to go take a walk around the city, he is further humiliated when the Mayor made the local newspaper release a new article called "Loser Cop Fired", making his even reputation worse. He then went see a dream at the Dreamplex theatre where he soon discovered that Thrax was still alive and that he had infiltrated the Brain. After getting Drix back on board, they gave chase to Thrax (who had also taken Leah hostage) to the uvula. After nearly cornering him, Thrax manages triggers a sneeze with pollen as a distraction before riding the shockwave out of Frank.

Osmosis Jones proceeds after Thrax via Drix’s cannon knocking them both onto Shane's eye. Osmosis Jones’s fight with Thrax eventually leads them both to one of Shane's false eyelashes. Upon realizing such as it was disconnecting, Thrax makes one final attempt to kill Osmosis Jones stating he won't be around for when he kills Shane. Luckily, Osmosis Jones, thinking that Thrax is way too dangerous to be left alive and to be left alone, had tricked Thrax into jamming his claw into the falsie and made a run for it with the chain. He managed to jump to safety as falsie came loose which fell into a beaker of rubbing alcohol causing Thrax to dissolve in so much pain as he tried to get out. Then Osmosis Jones rode on one of Shane's tears back to Frank ultimately saving him in the nick of time. He is then reinstated to the Immunity with full privileges, Drix as his new partner, and Leah as his girlfriend.

Ozzy & Drix[]

After a year they defeated Thrax, he and Drix were transferred from Frank (who recently resumed his poor eating habits) to Hector by a Mosquito. At first, he was reluctant to stay, but soon they realized that they can do more good in Hector than they ever could in Frank. He also reminds Hector of Frank when he was that age. His personality's slightly lighter than it was in the movie, since he cracks more jokes, and that they're an amazing team.

Trivia[]

  • Osmosis Jones has a rivalry with Paul Spryman, the Mayor of Hector. And Gluteus, the Police Chief of Hector.
  • Osmosis Jones is similar to both Dirty Harry and Batman from the DC Universe.
  • When animating Osmosis Jones, the animators observed Chris Rock as he recorded for him, and put little traits of the actor in his character, most notably his Cheshire Cat grin.
  • The directors of the movie had originally tried to get Will Smith to voice Osmosis Jones. He was interested, but he couldn’t due to schedule conflict.
    • Anthony Anderson, D.L. Hughley, Matthew Broderick, Alex Winter, Harry Connick Jr., John Cusack, Woody Harrelson, Chris Tucker, Chris O'Donnell, Todd Stashwick and Martin Short were all considered to voice Osmosis Jones.
  • He and Drix are the main characters in the T.V. show, Ozzy & Drix.
  • In the first episode episode of Osmosis Jones & Drix, he was shown working snot patrol and desiring to get a promotion which doesn't make sense as he was seemingly promoted at the end of the movie. It's possible he did something bad that caused him to get demoted again or the show takes place in a different universe, which could also explain why Frank was still unhealthy and gluttonous despite dedicating himself to a more healthy lifestyle at the end of the movie.
  • In the show, he and other cell's are required to wear anti-coagulation suits when outside of the human body to survive, but in the movie he fought Thrax outside of Frank's body for a while just fine.
  • Osmosis Jones is one of the only characters in the movie to have a first name that's a biological reference and a normal last name, the other being Leah. In the show this is also true with characters like Cilia Tyson, and others, such as Maria Amino, are reversed and have biological names as their last name.
  • Osmosis Jones has a an intense dislike of Paul Spryman, yet tries to get him to see reason for the sake of Hector. Spryman, of course, shares the mutual feeling, believing he and Drix just ‘get in the way of his plans’, though most of those plans aren’t very good. Their rivalry consists of Osmosis Jones trying to educate and inform him of what’s going on (much to Spryman’s boredom/annoyance.), calling him out on his foolish choices and blunders, and even pulling pranks on him like taking his game cartridges and putting Sylvian Fisher’s growth formula under his baseball hat. The latter punishes him and Drix for this, but more so for their selfless yet unorthodox acts for Hector’s best interest or just getting in his way generally. Osmosis Jones also doesn’t respect Chief Gluteus of the HPD, who constantly takes credit for his and Drix’s saving the day (An act that Spryman also takes part in.). He makes funny jokes about his being incompetent as a cop, and sometimes during unfortunate mishaps that happen to the chief because of said incompetence. (Shown in The Conqueror Worm when the chief gets splashed with acid.)
  • Osmosis Jones is the only cell to have natural color facial hair.
  • Osmosis Jones is similar to Sam Witwicky and Miguel Rivera; they both have their great-great grandfathers whom they idolized (Sam Witwicky's great-great grandfather is a famous explorer in history, Osmosis Jones' great-great grandfather is a fearless brave policeman and Miguel Rivera's great-great grandfather name is Héctor Rivera was musician.) and they both follow their footsteps to prove themselves and be a part of their family legacy.
  • Osmosis is also similar to Sly Cooper; they both have ancestors whose legacy they follow in their footsteps, and they manage to have the help of their sidekicks (Murray and Bentley for Sly and Drix for Osmosis) where they defeat their nemesis and restore their name and birthright.
    • Also in the show, he and other cell's are required to wear anti-coagulation suits when outside of the human body to survive, but in the movie he fought Thrax outside of Frank's body for a while just fine. These two things could imply that the show isn't canon to the movie and or takes place in a different universe, meaning Osmosis Jones would continue to live his life in Frank.
  • Osmosis is similar to Flik from A Bug's Life; they both are blue-skinned protagonists who are often ridiculed by others for the trouble they unintentionally cause within their homes, both are in love with a purple-skinned female (Princess Atta for Flik and Leah Estrogen for Osmosis), both are determined to save their homes and prove themselves, both fight their arch-enemies where they manage defeat them by tricking them, and both are praised as heroes, getting the respect they deserve.
